Ideas Abound!!!
Great book ... This is a terrific reference for Gelli Plate Print Making. The information is well presented in photos and verbiage. There is so much information packed into this book that I learn something new every time I pick it up. Extremely well written ... Joan Bess has to be a professional educator and technical writer. You do not have to read between the lines ... Instructions are detailed and thorough. At the same time your imagination and creativity is definetly triggered and you are driven to do this and try that ... And what if???

New Fun Monoprinting techniques with Gelli Plate
Brand new, but I have not used it just yet. I have a workshop later today with Tisia Blackburn out of San Francisco at the Sacramento downtown University Art store. She will show different methods of doing mono-printing using this Gelli Plate and RVS BFK white paper and Golden Open Acrylic with gel medium and Stencils by StencilGirl. After the class within a few days, I will use this Gelli Plate and the RVS BFK paper along with some Golden Open Acrylic and gel medium and some other stencils. I have viewed the use of Gelli plate on Youtube and there are several different methods. Tisia is a representative of Golden and know the product well. She does mostly abstract art with Acrylic. I do mostly watercolor impressionistic and expressionistic art work on Arches 140 lb. Cold Press watercolor paper. This Gelli plate is new to me and looks like it will be a fun experience. Joan Bess book has lots of ideas. I bought lots of stencils and some blank stencils with hot stencil cutter. However, her idea of using a laminated mask is a great idea. Joan has a simple silhouette of a lady using laminated mask on pages 28 and 29. She also has many other ideas that are great.

Explore the Possibilities
If you love your Gelli plate, you're going to love this book! Written by Joan Bess, the creator of the Gelli plate, it is a prime source of information. Plus, she features a gallery with over 20 examples by top artist who share a brief description of their process. This is not a project and templates book, but a technique book, so there's a plethora of opportunities to use your imagination as you explore the possibilities. You may be able to find many of these techniques online. However, I love having it all neatly at my finger tips without having to use up my creative time conducting searches on the internet. I highly recommend this book!

Great Gelli printmaking resource.
I have two Gelli plates and wanted to expand my ideas on using them. This book was written by one of the developers of the Gelli printing plate so she's very knowledgeable about her subject matter. I have learned new techniques from the book and have several more things from it I want to try. The illustrations are excellent and the book is well written. I recommend it to any printmakers who use a Gelli plate. Buy the book and a Gelli printing plate too and you will enjoy many hours of art making.
