desertcart.com: Metal Men: Full Metal Jacket: 9781401265175: Wein, Len: Books Review: Gold, Silver, Iron, Lead, Mercury & tin - Great book, metal men need more stories Review: New Story, Classic Feel - The Metal Men, to anyone unfamiliar, is a long-running team of Element-themed robots lead by their creator, Will Magnus. They have always leaned more towards the comical than the dramatic, as does this book, collected from the Legends of Tomorrow ensemble title. This book is not so much a reinvention of the concept, but a return to form from the last reinvention of the team. It reestablishes most everything the classic titles had, with the only big change being Doctor Magnus's younger age. Fret not; his personality and wit are still intact. The entire book reads like a much lighter, occasionally-Silver-Age story, and this works wonders to its benefit. It's often funny, well-paced, and keeps the stakes just high enough for investment without feeling to weighty. There are several characters from the wider DCU who show up throughout, and without spoiling them, I was delighted to see each and every one of them, even in limited roles. Every character used is very thematically appropriate, both in theme as well as in history with the Metal Men. Art is great; always clean, bright, and fun. I do have a few nitpicks, although none too big to merit lowering the score any. Like many trade paperback collections that DC releases, each chapter is separated by the cover the original issue was released with. However, due to the multiple-character issues of Legends of Tomorrow's comic run, the covers in question tend to highlight Firestorm and Metamorpho as well, neither of whom are present in this. This will certainly prove confusing to somebody not in-the-know. Additionally, the series goes to a decent length to establish a "bigger bad" behind the machinations of the events, but the villain in question is dispatched almost immediately at the end, without a fight, and without a proper explanation as to what happened. It's not huge, but it was strange enough to merit a mention. All in all, though, this is the best Metal Men story I have seen in years. Long-time fans will have plenty to appreciate, and newcomers will get the perfect story to introduce these weird, wacky, and wonderful heroes.

Metal Men return
I have always been a fan of the Metal Men and this reinvention seems to have the right stuff.

A fun re-imagining
I always enjoyed the fun and little goofy adventures of the Metal Men, and this new version of them didn't disappoint. Fun, kooky robots with a surprising amount of heart to them. And the art is incredible!

Metal Men - Reinvented, yet again!
I am big fan of the Metal Men. Unfortunately, in recent years everyone has wanted to re-create the characters. This collection continues down that trend. Here's some feedback: 1. This collection contains stories from Legends of Tomorrow 2. I believe this is part of the whole DC rebirth initiative coming out of the New 52. 3. As part of the rebirth the characters are re-invented again. Doc Magnus is a young millenial type character instead of the classic Disney Dad, Abesent-Minded Professor with his pipe. I am not fan of the younger spin. 4. The art by Yildiray Cinar is clean and the characters look great. SPOILERS - the last page reinventing of the characters is less than satisfying. I preferred the characters look throughout the book. 5. The story, as already mentioned, is a bit of a rebirth story. Very classic (Len Wein), but a reinventing and re-creating of the characters. All in all, it's a solid story and worth a read.

Loved the Metal Men since I first read about them
Loved the Metal Men since I first read about them. I was excited to read them in the New 52 run of DC Comics also during the Forever Evil storyline. I found this volume in a comic book store previously and unfortunately had no means to buy it then. When I eventually saved a little I figured Amazon's easier then catching a bus and going to another district. This was amazing in per of Len Wein's writing and the combined pencils of Yฤฑldฤฑray รฤฑnar with John Trevor Scott was incredible. The cameo of Red Tornado really got me hyped tbh. Overall, great read!

Should the Metal Men be replaced and by what? Two questions that will be answered.

attention , ce n' est pas le metal men d' origine ; c' est 1 graphisme actuel , plus sombre , + agressif : 1 peu dรฉรงu mais pour les inconditionnel du groupe !!!
